It is kind of sad that I’m part of an extraction and centralization industry. Seemingly anything and everything has to go through “IT and Software Systems” these days, making us, in some way, gatekeepers. In a way I’m a stormtrooper furthering the cause by working in this field.

But then again I do like programming. I like complex systems and working on them, maintaining them, thinking about them. I have no illusions that I could be - to continue the metaphor - a “rebel” (that notion is naive), but I do like to think that we can change parts of this machinery - as part of the establishment (i.e. as workers within this godforsaken industry hellbent on destroying the world, its workers and society).
